What is Dink Chronography?

Dink Chronography will allow D-Mods by different authors to co-exist in the same Dink world. All this really means is that it will be a way for authors to place their story along the Dink timeline in a way that will (hopefully) make them all fit together like pieces of one large puzzle. This ONLY applies to D-Mods in which Dink is the main character or the world of Dink is used. D-Mods which have nothing to do with Dink (yes, they are possible to create) wouldn't need to be on the timeline.

I got the idea from the recent Star Wars novels. Each book places itself in the timeline by stating "This story takes place 4 years after Return of the Jedi" or "1 month after Empire Strikes Back" and so forth. Then I starting thinking, what if somebody writes a D-Mod in which Dink finds his long lost sister, then later another author writes a D-Mod in which Dink is an only child? Obviously, the 2nd D-Mod would have to come first, at a point in time before Dink knew about his sister.

So, how is this handled? Well, Dink Chronography is the answer. This page will maintain an up-to-date timeline of the Dink world, including what major plot points other authors should be aware of (hopefully without giving away the story to people who have yet to play it). The goal will be that D-Mods can draw on the events posed in D-Mods by other authors, and somebody playing them all for the first time can be treated to a large, consistent world. For example, A plot point in the Scar of David is being used in Dink's Doppleganger, because I planned ahead. :)

By having this timeline, it should be easy to place your plot. It can be anywhere... before Dink ever left home... somewhere in the middle... or even years and years after Dink became a hero. It doesn't have anything to do with when the D-Mod was actually written, but when it "takes place" instead. The point is, Dink Chronography should help!

So, I'd like to invite any D-Mod author who wants to participate in SHADS to email me (wyndo@cxo.com) the name of your D-Mod, approximately where it should fit in the timeline, and any points you may wish to share with other authors so that it can help form a consistant world. If you don't want to participate, that's cool, but hopefully enough authors will so that a good timeline can be formed.

It will be an ongoing offer. Even before your D-Mod is ready, feel free to place it on the timeline. If you abandon work on your D-Mod, let me know this too so that I can remove it from the timeline. Pretty simple, huh? Anybody who wishes to participate is welcome!

The timeline will also list email addresses for the author of a given D-Mod. This is so people can email each other with specific questions, such as to determine if plot points are going to conflict, etc.
